New application of the tax on lodging in the tourism regions of Gaspésie and Îles-de-la-Madeleine

The Ministère des Finances announced an amendment to the tax on lodging in the tourism region of Gaspésie. The $2 tax required for each overnight stay is being replaced by a 3% tax to be calculated on the price of each overnight stay. This new rate will be in force as of July 1, 2008.

The Ministère des Finances also announced that as of July 1, 2008, the tourism region of Îles-de-la-Madeleine will be subject to the tax on lodging of $2 per overnight stay.
